    Check whether pets are allowed

Pet friendly is sometimes written in English in Brazilian business listings. A direct question is Vocês aceitam animais? (Do you allow animals?). Name your pet and its size so the staff can give you the relevant policy.

Rules can differ by establishment and change over time. Confirm the current conditions with the cafe, hotel, or host before you travel there.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Check whether pets are allowed
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
Vocês aceitam cães na área externa?Do you allow dogs in the outdoor area?
O hotel aceita um gato no quarto?Does the hotel allow a cat in the room?
Há alguma taxa para trazer um animal? Is there a fee for bringing an animal?

Ask where the pet can stay

Use área externa for outdoor area, quarto for room, and mesa for table. Ask where your pet is permitted to stay and whether a carrier or leash is required under that business's current rules.

If you need a specific arrangement, describe it clearly. For example, ask whether the pet can remain beside you or whether the establishment has a designated area.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Ask where the pet can stay
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
Posso ficar com ele ao meu lado? Can he stay beside me?
Existe uma área específica para animais? Is there a specific area for animals?

Confirm the details before you arrive

Repeat the key condition in a short sentence: Então, posso levar a Mel se ela ficar na guia? (So, I can bring Mel if she stays on the leash?). Then ask whether there is anything else the staff wants you to know.

A courteous question gives the business a chance to explain its policy. Confirm first instead of arriving with an unverified assumption.

Make the phrase useful to you

Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.

Ask whether pets are allowed, where they may stay, and what the current conditions are. Confirm with the business before you arrive.

Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
