Respond to a Job Offer in Brazilian Portuguese — Practice
A guided practice lesson with English explanations, Brazilian Portuguese examples, and answers you can check. Read the examples, recall the meaning, then say a version of your own.
Thank the employer and show interest
Use Agradeço muito a proposta (I really appreciate the offer) to open warmly. If you are interested but still reviewing details, say Tenho interesse na vaga and then make your request or ask your question.
Interest does not have to mean immediate acceptance. Separate your appreciation from the decision so your answer is clear.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Agradeço muito a proposta. Fiquei feliz com o convite. | I really appreciate the offer. I was happy to receive it. |
| Tenho interesse na vaga e gostaria de confirmar alguns detalhes. | I'm interested in the position and would like to confirm a few details. |
Request time and specify when you will reply
Ask Posso dar uma resposta até sexta-feira? (May I give you an answer by Friday?). A specific date helps both sides plan. If the employer has a deadline, ask whether your requested review period is possible.
Use analisar a proposta for review the offer and condições por escrito for terms in writing. Read the complete offer and ask the employer about anything you do not understand.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Posso analisar a proposta e responder até amanhã à tarde? | May I review the offer and respond by tomorrow afternoon? |
| Você poderia me enviar as condições por escrito? | Could you send me the terms in writing? |
Accept only after the details are clear
To accept, say Aceito a proposta para a vaga de… and repeat the role or start date. If a key point remains unclear, ask one focused question before confirming.
Keep a copy of the final written terms and follow the employer's process for the next steps. Language practice does not replace reviewing an employment agreement carefully.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Aceito a proposta para a vaga de designer e confirmo o início no dia 10. | I accept the offer for the designer position and confirm the start date as the 10th. |
| Antes de confirmar, você pode explicar como funciona o primeiro mês? | Before I confirm, could you explain how the first month works? |
Remember: Thank the employer, ask for written details, and give a specific date for your decision if you need time to review.
Check your understanding
Choose the English meaning of each Portuguese example. Answer before looking back at the tables. These questions check the written examples in this guide; they are not a listening or proficiency test.
Recall the Portuguese, then say it
Read the English prompt and say a Portuguese version before opening the answer. The answer shows the example from the lesson; other natural translations may also work. Compare the meaning and the situation rather than counting a different word as automatically wrong.
I really appreciate the offer. I was happy to receive it.

Make the phrase useful to you
Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.
Thank the employer, ask for written details, and give a specific date for your decision if you need time to review.
Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
