    Use polícia for the police

Polícia means the police or police force. The accent falls on the i, and the word appears in common phrases such as chamar a polícia (call the police). It does not mean an organization’s policy.

Política can mean a formal policy, especially a company policy or public policy. Regra is a rule, while diretriz is a guideline or directive. The surrounding subject—refunds, privacy, safety, or workplace conduct—helps choose the precise word.

Make the phrase useful to you

Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.

Polícia is police; política or regra is more likely to express policy, depending on context.

Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
