Ask About Parking in Portuguese: Garages, Time, and Payment — Practice
A guided practice lesson with English explanations, Brazilian Portuguese examples, and answers you can check. Read the examples, recall the meaning, then say a version of your own.
Find a parking area
Estacionamento means parking or parking lot. Ask whether there is a space and where the entrance is.
If you are looking for street parking, follow the signs and ask a local or attendant to explain anything unclear.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Tem estacionamento por aqui? | Is there parking around here? |
| Onde fica a entrada do estacionamento? | Where is the parking entrance? |
| Este espaço está livre? | Is this space available? |
Ask about rates and time limits
Ask whether the garage charges by the hour or for a daily period. Rates and time limits differ by location, so confirm the current terms before leaving the vehicle.
The word vaga means parking space; diária can mean a daily rate.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Quanto custa por hora? | How much does it cost per hour? |
| Tem limite de tempo? | Is there a time limit? |
| Posso deixar o carro aqui durante a noite? | Can I leave the car here overnight? |
Confirm how to pay and exit
Ask where you pay and whether you need a ticket or payment card to exit. Keep the receipt if you may need it to leave the garage.
For rental-car pickup and fueling, read our separate guide to renting a car in Brazil.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Onde eu pago? | Where do I pay? |
| Preciso validar o ticket? | Do I need to validate the ticket? |
| Como faço para sair do estacionamento? | How do I exit the parking garage? |
Remember: Before parking, ask whether the space is available, what the current rate is, and how you will pay to exit.
Check your understanding
Choose the English meaning of each Portuguese example. Answer before looking back at the tables. These questions check the written examples in this guide; they are not a listening or proficiency test.
Recall the Portuguese, then say it
Read the English prompt and say a Portuguese version before opening the answer. The answer shows the example from the lesson; other natural translations may also work. Compare the meaning and the situation rather than counting a different word as automatically wrong.

Make the phrase useful to you
Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.
Before parking, ask whether the space is available, what the current rate is, and how you will pay to exit.
Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
