Explain what you need to send

A package is a pacote or encomenda, and sending it is enviar. Begin by saying whether you need to send a document, a small parcel, or something fragile. Ask whether the item needs special packaging and which information the clerk needs before you choose a service.

Postal options, prices, and delivery estimates change. Ask the clerk to confirm the current services for your destination and keep the receipt or tracking details they provide.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Explain what you need to send
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
Quero enviar este pacote para outro estado.I want to send this package to another state.
Preciso embalar o produto antes de enviar?Do I need to package the item before sending it?
Como envio este documento com comprovante? How do I send this document with proof of mailing?

Check the address and recipient information

The destination address is endereço de destino, the recipient is destinatário or destinatária, and the sender is remetente. Write the details clearly and confirm postal code (CEP), city, and state. If you are spelling a name or street, use the alphabet guide and ask the clerk to repeat any part you are unsure about.

You can ask which fields are required and whether a phone number is needed. Do not guess at missing information; check with the recipient before submitting the package.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Check the address and recipient information
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
Pode conferir se o CEP está correto?Could you check whether the postal code is correct?
Quem deve aparecer como remetente?Who should be listed as the sender?
Preciso informar um telefone do destinatário?Do I need to provide the recipient’s phone number?

Ask how to track the package

After the package is accepted, ask whether you will receive a tracking code and where you can check its status. Confirm which receipt or message contains the information. If a status is unclear later, ask the postal service to explain the wording rather than assuming what a delivery scan means.

A simple clarification can save a second visit: repeat the tracking number or ask the clerk to point out where it appears. Keep the code private if it gives access to delivery details.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Ask how to track the package
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
Este envio tem código de rastreamento?Does this shipment have a tracking code?
Onde posso acompanhar a entrega?Where can I follow the delivery?
Pode me mostrar onde está o código no recibo?Could you show me where the code is on the receipt?

Remember: Before you leave, confirm the destination, the receipt, and how you can track the shipment. Repeat any important number to check that you heard it correctly.

    Check your understanding

Choose the English meaning of each Portuguese example. Answer before looking back at the tables. These questions check the written examples in this guide; they are not a listening or proficiency test.

Recall the Portuguese, then say it

Read the English prompt and say a Portuguese version before opening the answer. The answer shows the example from the lesson; other natural translations may also work. Compare the meaning and the situation rather than counting a different word as automatically wrong.

Make the phrase useful to you

Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.

Before you leave, confirm the destination, the receipt, and how you can track the shipment. Repeat any important number to check that you heard it correctly.

Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
