Ask If a Trail Is Open in Portuguese: Access and Current Conditions — Practice
A guided practice lesson with English explanations, Brazilian Portuguese examples, and answers you can check. Read the examples, recall the meaning, then say a version of your own.
Ask about today’s trail access
Aberta means open when referring to a feminine noun such as trilha. Ask whether the route is open today and whether you need permission or registration. Access rules and conditions vary by place and date.
Use ainda está aberta? to ask whether something is still open. If staff says no, ask whether another route is currently available and follow the information they provide.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| A trilha está aberta para visitantes hoje? | Is the trail open to visitors today? |
| O acesso continua liberado depois da chuva? | Is access still allowed after the rain? |
Find out where current notices appear
Aviso means notice or announcement. Ask whether the park, guide, or local authority posts updates online or at the entrance. Check the latest notice before you start instead of depending on an old review.
If the route is closed, ask what the closure applies to and whether there is an official alternative. Do not cross a barrier or ignore a posted restriction.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Onde posso consultar os avisos atualizados? | Where can I check the current notices? |
| Existe uma rota alternativa autorizada? | Is there an authorized alternative route? |
Confirm directions if the route changes
If staff recommends a different start point, repeat its name and location to confirm. Ask whether the change affects the route or meeting time, then check the official map or directions.
A route described by another visitor may not reflect current access rules. Use the organization responsible for the area as your source for closures and permissions.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Então o início da trilha mudou para a entrada norte? | So the trailhead has moved to the north entrance? |
| Esse caminho é uma rota oficial? | Is this path an official route? |
Remember: Confirm today’s access and any route changes with park staff, an official notice, or the local guide responsible for the area.
Check your understanding
Choose the English meaning of each Portuguese example. Answer before looking back at the tables. These questions check the written examples in this guide; they are not a listening or proficiency test.
Recall the Portuguese, then say it
Read the English prompt and say a Portuguese version before opening the answer. The answer shows the example from the lesson; other natural translations may also work. Compare the meaning and the situation rather than counting a different word as automatically wrong.

Make the phrase useful to you
Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.
Confirm today’s access and any route changes with park staff, an official notice, or the local guide responsible for the area.
Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
