Order Pizza in Brazil: Ask for Half-and-Half Flavors in Portuguese — Practice
A guided practice lesson with English explanations, Brazilian Portuguese examples, and answers you can check. Read the examples, recall the meaning, then say a version of your own.
Choose the size and two flavors
In Brazil, meio a meio means half-and-half: one pizza with two flavors. Start with the size, then name both flavors. Some pizzerias price the whole pizza according to the more expensive flavor, so ask how the price is calculated.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Uma pizza grande meio a meio: metade calabresa e metade marguerita. | One large half-and-half pizza: half calabresa and half margherita. |
| Como vocês calculam o preço da pizza meio a meio? | How do you calculate the price of a half-and-half pizza? |
Ask about the crust and any additions
Borda is the crust or outer edge; recheada means stuffed. Ask whether a stuffed crust costs extra and whether the topping is available. On a phone order, repeat both flavors so the attendant does not confuse which half you want.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Tem borda recheada? Qual é o valor adicional? | Do you have stuffed crust? How much extra is it? |
| A metade de calabresa fica deste lado, certo? | The calabresa half goes on this side, right? |
Confirm delivery or pickup
Entrega em casa is home delivery; retirada is pickup. Confirm the address, delivery estimate, and payment method before ending a phone order. If you are collecting it, ask when the pizza will be ready.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Vou retirar no balcão. Daqui a quanto tempo fica pronta? | I’ll pick it up at the counter. How long until it’s ready? |
| Pode entregar neste endereço? Aceitam Pix? | Can you deliver to this address? Do you accept Pix? |
Remember: Say meio a meio and name both flavors, then confirm the price and delivery or pickup plan.
Check your understanding
Choose the English meaning of each Portuguese example. Answer before looking back at the tables. These questions check the written examples in this guide; they are not a listening or proficiency test.
Recall the Portuguese, then say it
Read the English prompt and say a Portuguese version before opening the answer. The answer shows the example from the lesson; other natural translations may also work. Compare the meaning and the situation rather than counting a different word as automatically wrong.

Make the phrase useful to you
Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.
Say meio a meio and name both flavors, then confirm the price and delivery or pickup plan.
Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
