Meu Celular Descarregou: Ask for Help in Portuguese When Your Phone Dies

Say whether the battery is empty or the phone is faulty

Meu celular descarregou. — “My phone ran out of battery.” You can also say Estou sem bateria. — “I’m out of battery.” Meu celular não está funcionando means “My phone isn’t working,” a broader statement that does not identify the cause.

If you do not know what happened, say Ele desligou e não sei por quê. — “It switched off and I don’t know why.” Do not claim a damaged battery just because the screen is dark. This guide teaches communication, not phone repair or electrical advice.

Ask for one specific kind of help

    • Tem uma tomada que eu possa usar? — Is there an outlet I can use?
    • Posso carregar meu celular aqui? — Can I charge my phone here?
    • Você tem um carregador compatível? — Do you have a compatible charger?
    • Pode anotar o endereço do hotel? — Can you write down the hotel address?

Ask before using an outlet or borrowing equipment. If someone offers a cable, you can clarify Preciso do carregador também — “I need the charger too.” These examples do not mean a café or reception desk must provide equipment, charging or a place to leave your phone.

    A practical exchange at reception

You: Meu celular descarregou. Posso carregar aqui por alguns minutos? — My phone ran out of battery. Can I charge it here for a few minutes?
Staff: Pode usar aquela tomada. — You can use that outlet.
You: Obrigado. Enquanto isso, pode anotar o ponto de encontro? — Thank you. In the meantime, can you write down the meeting point?
Staff: Claro. É na entrada principal. — Of course. It’s at the main entrance.

The traveler solves two separate problems: restoring power and recovering a practical detail. If the phone turns on but has no connection, explain Estou sem internet — “I have no internet.” Battery, mobile data and Wi-Fi are different issues; the person can help more easily when you name the right one.

    Practice choosing the right explanation

    1. Your battery is empty. Choose between descarregou and estou sem internet.
    2. Your phone has power but cannot connect. State the connection problem without saying it is broken.
    3. You cannot access meeting instructions. Ask for the point and time in writing.
    Show possible answers
    1. Meu celular descarregou. This identifies the empty battery.
    2. Meu celular está ligado, mas estou sem internet. — My phone is on, but I have no internet.
    3. Pode anotar o ponto de encontro e o horário?

Before traveling, rehearse this exchange with the actual type of help you might request. For a language drill, use fictional meeting details and keep your private account or access information out of the conversation. Finish by repeating the next action: which outlet you may use or where you need to meet.
