Ask about tickets and the venue

A concert is a show or concerto, and a ticket is an ingresso. The venue may be called a casa de shows, teatro, arena, or simply local, depending on the place. Ask which entrance or sector applies to your ticket, and check current event details with the organizer.

If you are going with someone, confirm where and when to meet. A specific landmark inside or near the venue is easier to follow than “at the entrance” when there are several gates.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Ask about tickets and the venue
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
Onde fica a entrada para este setor?Where is the entrance for this section?
O ingresso inclui acesso à pista?Does the ticket include access to the standing area?
A que horas começa o show? What time does the concert start?

Talk about the artist and the music

Use gosto de to say that you like an artist or style of music: gosto de samba, gosto dessa banda. To ask another person, say Você conhece…? (Do you know…?) or Que tipo de música você curte? (What kind of music are you into?). Curte is an informal spoken form related to curtir, so choose a more neutral question in a formal conversation.

You can describe the performance with simple reactions: animado (lively), tranquilo (relaxed), alto (loud), or emocionante (moving). These words give a clearer opinion than saying only bom, while leaving room for other people to feel differently.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Talk about the artist and the music
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
Você conhece essa cantora?Do you know this singer?
Eu curto música ao vivo, principalmente samba.I’m into live music, especially samba.
O show foi emocionante, e a banda tocou minhas músicas favoritas. The show was moving, and the band played my favorite songs.

Make a plan to meet after the show

Large venues can make it hard to hear, so agree on a meeting point before the performance. If you are coordinating by message, include a clear place and time. Afterward, ask what the other person thought and mention one specific moment you enjoyed.

Use the same planning language you would use for a meal or a weekend outing: combinar um lugar (agree on a place), se encontrar (meet up), and depois do show (after the show). A short plan is easier to remember in a noisy setting.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Make a plan to meet after the show
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
Vamos nos encontrar perto da bilheteria depois do show?Shall we meet near the ticket office after the show?
Que música você mais gostou de ouvir ao vivo?Which song did you most enjoy hearing live?
Adorei o show. Quer comer alguma coisa antes de ir para casa?I loved the show. Do you want to get something to eat before going home?

Remember: Prepare one question about the artist, one sentence about the music, and a clear meeting point you can send to a friend before the venue gets crowded.

    Check your understanding

Choose the English meaning of each Portuguese example. Answer before looking back at the tables. These questions check the written examples in this guide; they are not a listening or proficiency test.

Recall the Portuguese, then say it

Read the English prompt and say a Portuguese version before opening the answer. The answer shows the example from the lesson; other natural translations may also work. Compare the meaning and the situation rather than counting a different word as automatically wrong.

Make the phrase useful to you

Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.

Prepare one question about the artist, one sentence about the music, and a clear meeting point you can send to a friend before the venue gets crowded.

Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
