Ask about the artist and the show

Show and apresentação can both refer to a live performance. Use quem vai tocar? to ask who will play, or que horas começa? to ask when it starts.

Genres and artist names are easy ways to begin. If you do not know a performer, ask someone to recommend a song before deciding whether to go.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Ask about the artist and the show
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
Quem vai tocar hoje?Who is playing today?
Que horas começa o show? What time does the show start?
Que música você recomenda?Which song do you recommend?

Make a plan and confirm a ticket

Ingresso means ticket, and pista can refer to a standing floor area at some venues. Ticket categories and venue rules vary, so check the event’s current information before you buy.

If you are going with friends, agree on where to meet and what time to arrive. A simple confirmation message can prevent confusion at a busy entrance.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Make a plan and confirm a ticket
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
Ainda tem ingresso? Are there still tickets?
Onde a gente se encontra?Where should we meet?
Vou chegar um pouco antes.I’ll arrive a little early.

    Share your reaction afterward

After the concert, use foi incrível (it was amazing), gostei muito (I liked it a lot), or a música ao vivo (the live music) to describe what stood out.

To keep talking, mention a particular song or ask which part your friend enjoyed. The response is more natural when it includes one detail from the event.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Share your reaction afterward
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
A banda tocou minha música favorita. The band played my favorite song.
Gostei muito da apresentação.I really liked the performance.

Remember: Practice one question about the lineup, one about meeting up, and one sentence about a song you enjoy.

    Check your understanding

Choose the English meaning of each Portuguese example. Answer before looking back at the tables. These questions check the written examples in this guide; they are not a listening or proficiency test.

Recall the Portuguese, then say it

Read the English prompt and say a Portuguese version before opening the answer. The answer shows the example from the lesson; other natural translations may also work. Compare the meaning and the situation rather than counting a different word as automatically wrong.

Make the phrase useful to you

Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.

Practice one question about the lineup, one about meeting up, and one sentence about a song you enjoy.

Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
