Reserve a Sports Court in Brazil: Portuguese for Time, Surface, and Equipment — Practice
A guided practice lesson with English explanations, Brazilian Portuguese examples, and answers you can check. Read the examples, recall the meaning, then say a version of your own.
Ask whether a court is available
Quadra is a court. Name the sport and the date or time you want so staff can check the correct space. Facilities may have different court types and reservation systems, so confirm the details directly with the venue.
Use tem horário? to ask whether there is a slot, or há disponibilidade? for a slightly more formal question.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Tem horário disponível para jogar tênis amanhã? | Is there a time slot available to play tennis tomorrow? |
| Essa quadra é coberta? | Is this court covered? |
Confirm the duration, surface, and price
Ask how long the reservation lasts and what the stated price includes. Piso can mean floor or surface; name the sport if there is any chance of confusion. Check whether the facility provides balls, rackets, or other equipment before you arrive.
Prices and booking terms can change. Use the venue's current information for the amount and any cancellation conditions.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| A reserva é de uma hora? | Is the reservation for one hour? |
| As bolas estão incluídas ou preciso levar as minhas? | Are the balls included or do I need to bring my own? |
Check in and clarify where to go
When you arrive, say the name or time on your reservation and ask where the court is. If your booking confirmation lists a court number, show it to staff. Follow any instructions the facility gives about footwear or shared equipment.
If you need to change the time, ask what options are currently available rather than assuming the booking can be transferred.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Tenho uma reserva às seis no meu nome. | I have a reservation at six under my name. |
| Onde fica a quadra número três? | Where is court number three? |
Remember: Confirm the sport, slot, duration, price, equipment, and arrival instructions with the facility.
Check your understanding
Choose the English meaning of each Portuguese example. Answer before looking back at the tables. These questions check the written examples in this guide; they are not a listening or proficiency test.
Recall the Portuguese, then say it
Read the English prompt and say a Portuguese version before opening the answer. The answer shows the example from the lesson; other natural translations may also work. Compare the meaning and the situation rather than counting a different word as automatically wrong.

Make the phrase useful to you
Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.
Confirm the sport, slot, duration, price, equipment, and arrival instructions with the facility.
Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
