How to Say ‘Stay in the Loop’ in Brazilian Portuguese — Practice
A guided practice lesson with English explanations, Brazilian Portuguese examples, and answers you can check. Read the examples, recall the meaning, then say a version of your own.
Use por dentro for information you know
Ficar por dentro means to be informed, know the latest details, or stay in the loop. The expression commonly appears with de: ficar por dentro das novidades (stay up to date on the news) or ficar por dentro do plano (know the plan).
Use estar por dentro when you are already informed and ficar por dentro when you are becoming or staying informed. In casual speech, people may use the two in overlapping ways.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Quero ficar por dentro das mudanças. | I want to stay up to date on the changes. |
| Você está por dentro do novo horário? | Are you up to date on the new time? |
| O grupo me manteve por dentro da viagem. | The group kept me informed about the trip. |
Ask to be included in important updates
A short request such as me mantém por dentro? asks someone to keep you updated. In a workplace, name the project or the updates you need. This is clearer and more considerate than assuming another person knows what information you expect.
For formal writing, use manter informado or acompanhar as informações. Ficar por dentro is conversational and works naturally with friends and coworkers in a relaxed exchange.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Pode me manter por dentro das próximas etapas? | Could you keep me informed about the next steps? |
| Vou acompanhar as atualizações pelo e-mail. | I’ll follow the updates by email. |
| Ela quer ficar por dentro das decisões da equipe. | She wants to stay informed about the team’s decisions. |
Remember: Use ficar por dentro de to become or stay informed about something. Name the topic or updates so your request is specific.
Check your understanding
Choose the English meaning of each Portuguese example. Answer before looking back at the tables. These questions check the written examples in this guide; they are not a listening or proficiency test.
Recall the Portuguese, then say it
Read the English prompt and say a Portuguese version before opening the answer. The answer shows the example from the lesson; other natural translations may also work. Compare the meaning and the situation rather than counting a different word as automatically wrong.

Make the phrase useful to you
Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.
Use ficar por dentro de to become or stay informed about something. Name the topic or updates so your request is specific.
Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
