Explain what happened to the delivery

Use encomenda or pacote for a package and entrega for delivery. If you were not home, say não tinha ninguém em casa quando o entregador passou (no one was home when the courier came by). If the tracking page only says tentativa de entrega, ask what happened rather than assuming the package is waiting at a specific location.

Keep the order or tracking number available when you contact the seller or carrier. Do not send a full address or personal code in a public post.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Explain what happened to the delivery
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
Aparece uma tentativa de entrega, mas eu não estava em casa.It shows a delivery attempt, but I wasn’t home.
Você pode verificar onde está a encomenda? Can you check where the package is?

Ask about the available next step

Ask whether another delivery attempt is planned, whether you can choose a date, or whether pickup is available. Carrier rules vary by service and shipment, so confirm the option attached to your tracking number.

If you are speaking with a building doorman or reception desk, ask whether a package was left with them. If you are contacting the carrier, describe the address detail that may have caused a problem, such as an apartment number or bloco.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Ask about the available next step
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
Vai haver outra tentativa de entrega? Will there be another delivery attempt?
Posso retirar o pacote em algum lugar? Can I pick up the package somewhere?
O número do apartamento estava no endereço?Was the apartment number included in the address?

Repeat the plan and keep the confirmation

Before ending the conversation, repeat the next step and any date or location the representative gave you. Ask for a reference number or written confirmation if the service provides one.

A useful closing question is então, agora eu preciso esperar uma nova tentativa? (so, now I need to wait for another attempt?). It checks that you understood without sounding confrontational.

Remember: Describe the tracking status, ask which options apply to your package, and repeat the confirmed next step. Carrier policies can differ.

    Check your understanding

Choose the English meaning of each Portuguese example. Answer before looking back at the tables. These questions check the written examples in this guide; they are not a listening or proficiency test.

Recall the Portuguese, then say it

Read the English prompt and say a Portuguese version before opening the answer. The answer shows the example from the lesson; other natural translations may also work. Compare the meaning and the situation rather than counting a different word as automatically wrong.

Make the phrase useful to you

Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.

Describe the tracking status, ask which options apply to your package, and repeat the confirmed next step. Carrier policies can differ.

Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
