Ask whether the store wraps gifts

Embrulhar para presente means to wrap as a gift, and embalagem para presente means gift packaging. Ask whether the service is available and whether there is an additional charge; policies differ between stores.

If you need the package by a particular day, explain the date before paying and ask whether the wrapping will be ready in time.

Keep the price out of the gift package

Ask for a comprovante sem o preço (receipt without the price) or a nota de troca (exchange receipt) if the store offers one. These terms describe what you want; each retailer decides which receipt formats it can provide.

Keep the full receipt for yourself in case you need to check the purchase details later.

Confirm which items will be wrapped

If you bought more than one item, specify which one is the gift. Use este vai para presente (this one is for a gift) while pointing to the product or repeating its name.

Check that any card or message is attached to the right package before leaving the store.

Make the phrase useful to you

Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.

Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
